MCP server
The same operations as the CLI, as tools for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.
Install#
One command installs the skill and the MCP server entry for the agents it finds on the machine:
npx buildhound setupClaude Code, Cursor and Codex are configured when present. The local server reuses the CLI's GitHub login.
Tools#
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
scan_repo | Audit a repository's workflows for wasted spend. |
estimate_workflow_cost | Monthly cost of one workflow at a given number of runs. |
explain_rule | What a rule such as R03 checks and how its fix works. |
get_rates | The rate tables, with source and verified date. |
runner_status | Machines, heartbeats, running jobs and the failover map for an account. |
runner_add | Connect this machine. Needs confirm: true. |
runner_set | Change a machine's routing, policy or performance. |
runner_remove | Deregister a machine. Needs confirm: true. |
Read-only by default#
Tools that read need nothing. Tools that change something take confirm: true and are marked destructive, so an agent asks first. When GitHub needs a person, a tool returns needs_human with one URL and a next step, the same contract as the CLI.
